Katie Spellman has spent the past 12 years working at the forefront of the international sporting media. After graduating from Bristol University with a Joint Honours degree in French and Italian, she completed a post-graduate diploma at the London School of Journalism.
Her first job in newspapers was at the Sunday Mirror, where she spent three years on the sports desk. Katie then moved to The Times for four years, becoming the first female ever to Chief Sub the sports pages, before being promoted to Deputy Football Editor.
Katie then spent three years a senior communications manager at the Women’s Tennis Association, travelling around the world with the WTA and taking the leading tennis players on the planet through their media commitments. Katie developed strong relationships with the many stakeholders of the tennis world, journalists, sponsors, tournament directors and, most important, players.
Katie has worked on both sides of the fence and her understanding of the minds of journalists has helped her to excel as a communications professional, particularly in relation to preparing top athletes for the media spotlight.
In 2012, Katie moved from London to Toronto, Canada and in 2013 set up Katie Spellman PR. Katie is a proud mum to Jack and Poppy.
